Patient Education

As our patient, you may also benefit from the area of our website called Patient Education. There, you will find information about heart conditions with some related articles and videos, as well as information about our suggested diet and wellness plan.

Telemedicine

We offer our patients the opportunity to see and talk remotely with their cardiologist about their health. Telemedicine, at Stern, refers to physician and patient interaction when the two are not physically present at the same location. Using technology such as a computer or a mobile device enables a consultation using HIPAA compliant video-conferencing tools.

Appointments

Appointments can be made by calling 901-271-1000, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. We will try our best to honor your appointment time, but occasionally emergencies with other patients may cause a delay. If this happens, please be patient and understanding. If you have a tight schedule, please ask one of our staff about rescheduling your visit. If you cannot keep your scheduled appointment, please give us notice at least 24 hours ahead of the appointment time so we can reschedule your appointment and give your original appointment to someone else. If you are having problems while the office is open, call 901-271-1000 as early as possible after 8:30 a.m. so we can see you the same day. Either your doctor or someone in the office will contact you. It is highly advisable not to come to the office without an appointment since this will cause delays in your care as well as the care of others. Always call first before you consider coming without an appointment.

Refills

For your convenience, Stern Cardiovascular has a prescription refill phone line. If you need a refill or were given sample medications but were not given a prescription, please call 901-271-2285. To refill your medications, we will need your full legal name, your date of birth, your phone number, and the name, dosage, and frequency of your medication. We need three working days to be sure your medicine is called in correctly. Please don’t wait until your medicine has run out to call for a refill. Waiting to refill a medication can result in a few missed dosages.

Lab Results

Lab results may sometimes take up to a week or more to be completed since specific tests must be sent to other labs for analysis. Within 7 days, you will be called with most of your lab results. We will be pleased to mail or fax a copy of your results to you or to your primary care physician. If another physician has done blood work or other tests, please bring that information with you or have it faxed to us at 901-747-0535. This is helpful in providing continuity of care, prevents the need for re-testing, and saves you time waiting for your records to get to our office.
